The October 4th Wilkes County Young Farmer Truck & Tractor Pull is quickly approaching.  We sure hope that you will be able to attend. The Wilkes County Young Farmers would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who came and pulled in June. Despite the threat of rain, we had an excellent turnout of pullers and fans.

A few updates for the October pull. First of all, we have changed the starting time. We will begin pulling Antiques at 3 p.m... This means that the drivers meeting will be held at 2:45 rather than 1:45.

Second, we will have sponsorship for 16 of our 43 classes. There have been some sponsorship changes made since the June pull, so please check the list carefully. These classes are listed on the flier. Also, if you know of anyone who would like to sponsor a class, please give us a call. They can sponsor any class for as much as they would like. If we are able to secure more funds, we will increase the payout on the current classes and try to add other classes.

Last on the list of changes, we have made several improvements to the sled since the June pull.  These changes should speed up the pull considerably. We are still working on the measuring system and hope to have the distance scoreboard up and running by the 4th.

Again, we would like to recognize and thank our June class sponsors. They were Bubba Blackmon of Blackmon Auto Parts/NAPA, Wilkes Barnett Construction, Washington Ford-Mercury, Strother Timber Company, Billy McKellar Logging, Southern Classic Realty, Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts, Jim Whitehead Tire Co., and the Wilkes County Young Farmers.  If you have the opportunity, please let them know that their contribution is greatly appreciated.

In Closing, a few quick reminders, we will only award first place trophies and will only carry radio advertisements with the 101.7 station in Thomson. So please spread the word to others about the pull. We will have a pedal tractor race immediately following the Antique Tractors. Please bring your own Pedal Tractor. The hook fee will remain the same with the first pull free if you present your admission ticket at registration.

Please continue to check out the information on the website at www.thewttp.com.  Any further up-dates will be added here.  As always, we welcome any suggestions for changes.  We would like to make this a pull that is fun for everyone to participate in and come to watch.  Thanks again for your participation.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON October 4th!
